Jacob Li Hopkins: Glitch Artist

Not long ago, Danny Allen posted over at Gizmodo about a new artform called “glitch art.”

My three year old son Jacob Li got a Leapster2 for Christmas, and his favorite function on the device is the “learn to draw” option. Somehow, he’s learned how to save his art pieces, and I’ve peeked over his shoulders before, and some of the stuff is actually pretty good.

Unfortunately, none of the stuff that he’s drawn that looks like things you or I might find recognizable has been saved.

I downloaded all the save files from the device a few minutes ago, and while nothing here looks like a daisy or a sun or puppy (the three things he’s learned to draw), I think he does have a promising career ahead in abstract art.

A Quick Camera Test

This is a ridiculously short video of me and my son, and I know it looks silly sandwiched between my bumpers, but I’ve got the new video platform more or less configured, and I wanted to know what it looked like on the site as a published file.

I’ll have more details about the platform in an announcement video some time tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy!

I’ll be real honest, there’s a lot of things I could be talking about on the blog tonight. Instead, after finishing a quick little project for Podango this evening, I’m going to head to bed an hour or two early, and leave you with some pictures of me, my boys, and my wife.
